This material is\u00a0<strong>durable and renewable<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>EPS : the EPS is a great example of an efficient use of natural resources, since it has a very low input of raw material (98% of air). The production process is also energy and water-efficient and produces little waste.<br \/>\nEPS is<strong> locally produced<\/strong>, and is very light, thus its transportation consumes little energy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Building construction<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Construction is quick and energy-efficient. Materials are light which means there is no need for heavy machines on the construction site.<\/p>\n<p>Construction work for a PopUp House construction is 77% less impactful than traditional construction work, including workers transportation to the building site (according to our research department).<br \/>\nIn addition, the construction produces little waste and the waste in which it does produce can be <strong>reused or recycled<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Building life<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The building\u00a0<strong>consumes little primary energy<\/strong>:\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0energy consumption is reduced by up to 90% compared to a traditional house, due\u00a0to the 30 cm wide insulating blocks<\/span><br \/>\nThe limited use of heating reduces the emission of CO2.<br \/>\nIn addition,\u00a0a passive house is a cozy environment to live in since the temperature inside does not vary.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Disassembling the building<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Disassembling a PopUp House is a simple procedure, done by carrying out all assembly steps in the reverse order. All original materials are then separately recovered, thus, it is possible to either:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>reuse the materials for a new construction,<\/li>\n<li>or recycle\u00a0the materials<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Recycling of materials<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wood is obviously recyclable: by crushing it into chips, it can be reused (for example, in chipboard).<br \/>\nRecycling of EPS (expanded polystyrene) is less familiar to the general public. Yet, recycling procedures\u00a0exist today (the recycled EPS is used mainly for packaging materials).<\/p>\n<p>There are two\u00a0options for this:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>crushing EPS into smaller pieces and re-injecting it directly as part of the production of new blocks<\/li>\n<li>pumping the melted and recycled EPS into plastic parts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The PopUp House concept is environmentally friendly throughout its entire life cycle.
